Telangana Forest Department Faces Shortage: Over 30% Vacancies Yet to Be Filled
Telangana Forest Department Jobs: The State Forest Department is grappling with a significant shortage of personnel, with crucial roles and responsibilities such as combating encroachments, curbing timber smuggling, preventing fire accidents, promoting greenery, and safeguarding wildlife, including tigers, being affected. Senior officials recently brought this pressing issue to the attention of the government. There are total 2108 vacancies in Telangana Forest Department. Telangana State Government is going to fill all the available vacancies in Forest Department.

During a recent meeting, senior officials briefed the Chief Minister about the magnitude of the problem. The shortage of staff has not only impacted the department's efficiency but has also resulted in some employees being deployed to other departments.
1419 Forest Beat Officer, 414 Class IV Jobs, 21 FRO, 64 Forest Section Officer Jobs in Telangana Forest Dept
The vacancies across various sections of the department are alarming. Out of the 37 sanctioned positions for technical assistants, only one is filled. Similarly, out of 3,652 Forest Beat Officer positions, 1,419 are vacant, and 414 out of 843 Class IV positions remain unfilled. Additionally, there are shortages in positions such as Assistant Conservator of Forests (15 out of 61), IFS posts (26 out of 81), Forest Section Officer (64 out of 734), Forest Range Officer (21 out of 274), and others. Overall, out of 6,860 total posts, only 4,752 are filled, leaving 2,108 vacant positions.
CM Asked for Deputation Employees Detail:
Responding to the crisis, the Chief Minister has instructed authorities to provide details of officers and employees currently serving in other departments on deputation from the Forest Department. Furthermore, efforts are underway to fill 26 IFS posts by requesting assistance from the central government. The Chief Minister has also urged officials to expedite proposals for filling vacancies in the remaining departments.
Addressing this staff shortage is critical for the effective functioning of the Forest Department in fulfilling its vital responsibilities.
